Buy and activate
Get a product through Microsoft Marketplace, online, with a subscription key or a free trial.
How you get a product depends on how your supplier sells it. Each product card on Products shows the options available.
Through Microsoft Marketplace
- Buy the offer in Microsoft Marketplace or the Microsoft 365 admin centre.
- Choose Configure account. Microsoft opens the portal's Marketplace landing page.
- Sign in with the account you bought with, and choose Continue as … (it shows your name) to confirm it is you.
- If you belong to several organisations, choose which one the purchase is for, or create a new organisation.
- Choose Complete activation. Microsoft starts billing once the activation is confirmed; the subscription appears on Subscriptions.
If you leave before finishing, the purchase waits under Subscriptions › Unfinished activations: choose Finish activation. Some suppliers review purchases first; the page then shows Waiting for approval until they do.
Online, by card or Revolut Pay
When the supplier sells online, Buy now on a product opens the checkout: choose the plan, currency and billing period (monthly or yearly), accept the supplier's terms and pay by card or Revolut Pay. Prices include tax. The subscription is activated as soon as the payment is confirmed, and a receipt is emailed. Renewals are charged automatically to the saved payment method. You need the Owner or Billing manager role.
With a subscription key
Your supplier may send you a subscription key (for example after you asked to buy or for a free trial). Open Activation, paste the key into Subscription key and choose Redeem subscription key. If you have no organisation yet, redeeming creates it and you become its owner. A key issued for another organisation can only be redeemed there.
Asking for a free trial or to buy
On a product, Request a free trial or Buy from (followed by the supplier's name) sends a request for a plan. The supplier replies with a subscription key; you can follow the request on Subscriptions and withdraw it while it waits for review. A free trial starts when you redeem the key, not when you ask.
